There are so many reasons to visit Canada. True, most people don’t think about Canada when they’re planning their next vacation. It has a reputation for being cold, remote and worst of all… boring. But none of that is really accurate at all. Except for the cold part…. Yes, it does get cold. But if the cold scares you then avoid winter and come during the summer months when it is arguably the most beautiful place on the planet. Here are just a few reasons why Canada should be at the top of your bucket list.

The Canadian Rockies
Banff, Jasper, Yoho, Kootenay, Revelstoke, Waterton… those are just a few of the incredible National Parks situated in the Rockies. You’ve likely heard of some of them, or at least seen the photos taking over your news feeds. These are the places dreams are made of. If you don’t believe me, here’s the proof:

It’s affordable
No matter where you’re coming from, the value of the Canadian dollar has deflated to the point where a trip out here is probably cheaper than it will ever be. Take advantage of it while you still can. Even if you’re not able to get away for a while, it’s probably a good idea to lock in the incredible deals that are being offered at the moment. Especially since hot spot destinations like Banff get FULLY booked up months in advance, it’s next to impossible to plan a last minute trip there. Hotel sites like booking.com find the best rates on resorts and offering free cancellation in case your plans change.

The road trips are epic
If you’re a fan of road trips, Canada is the place to be. From the Icefields Parkway (voted one of the most beautiful drives in the world) to the drive between Calgary and Vancouver (10 hours of changing landscapes – mountains to vineyards, beaches and lakes to the lush forests of the PNW), the road trip of your dreams is waiting for you in Canada.
Want to plan the most epic road trip of all time? Use roadtrippers.com which shows you points of interest along any given route… it even calculates the gas expense for you. It’s saved hours of planning on several road trips of ours. -
Every season is beautiful
In the winter Canada boasts some of the best ski resorts and powder snow on Earth. If you’re not a skier, there are still plenty of reasons to visit Canada: check out these winter wonders in the Canadian Rockies. In the summer there are an endless number of breathtaking hikes and blue lakes. In the fall everything turns golden. And springtime offers fresh blooms of beautiful wildflowers. Canada is pretty much postcard-perfect no matter what time of year you visit.

No, it’s not that cold… in the summer
One of the questions I get asked the most is whether it’s still cold in Canada during the summer… despite the fact that I’m wearing shorts in almost every single one of my Instagram photos. Canadian resilience aside, summertime in Canada is just as warm as summer should be. Expect anywhere from mid to high 20s (that’s Celsius). In fact, sometimes, it’s so hot it’s unbearable (usually it gets above 30 a few times). So don’t worry about having to pack hundreds of layers or a giant parka on your Canadian vacation. But do bring a good rain jacket.

Every province is different
Whether you love the west coast vibes of British Columbia, the incredible landscapes of my personal favourite: Alberta (see 10 Reasons to Visit Alberta Right Now), the culture and history of Montreal (and obviously their poutine), or the laid-back fishing villages of the Atlantic provinces, there is truly something for everyone up here.

There are hundreds of hidden gems (aka reasons to visit Canada)
If you’ve ever looked at a map then you know Canada is an absolutely enormous country. All that land comes with a LOT of nature and with that, a LOT of hidden gems. I’m talking about natural hot springs, epic hikes, gorgeous waterfalls, rope swings, bridges and parks that are unspoiled and best of all – not crowded. (If you’ve ever been to the Grand Canyon you’ll get why crowds are the worst.) Make friends with a local and have them show you their favourite places! We spend almost every weekend exploring these hidden gems and love sharing them with our readers.
If you still need more reasons, why not check out our post on 100 things to do in Banff!
While it’s definitely underrated as a vacation destination, you can definitely use that to your advantage to get great deals and uncrowded views that you’ll never forget. If you have any other reasons to visit Canada you’d like to add, feel free to email us.
Hope to see you up here one day – happy adventuring!
This is on my bucket list for a trip. Thanks for all the great tips and insights.
Awesome. I can’t bear really cold weather and your #5got me smiling.. So, definitely Canada is a go now ☺️
Absolutely breathtaking photography!!! I’ve been to Canada once when I was younger for a family reunion, but I definitely need to book a trip back! Pinned this photo so that I can look back when I do 🙂
The cooler weather and beautiful landscape will have to be the reason why I would go up to Canada. Its close to 90 degrees where I live before the sun even rises and the cooler weather would be so welcoming.
Those are such beautiful shots! I haven’t been to Canada in about 10-15 years. We used to road trip quite often but after my hubbys becoming disabled, road trips are difficult. Hopefully one day we can make it to one of those parks to take in the scenery once again ?
