Banff’s best burger: Barpa Bill’s

Jan 23, 2015 | 0 comments

After a long day on the ski hill, we decided to head to town and find something to get our energy levels up again. This place is a hidden gem located on Bear St., right beside the movie theater. An authentically Greek family-run joint that’s been around for more than 20 years, Barpa Bill’s really has what it takes to hit the spot. We ordered the Barpa Bison Burger (incredible!) and the lamb Donair (mmmmm). This place only takes cash so remember to hit the ATM beforehand (closest ATM is in Cascade Plaza). This locals favourite is a must try if you’re heading out to the mountains! Tip: remember to bring gum, as you WILL come away smelling of garlic 😉

This is an eat-in or take-out location but if you’re coming in with a large group don’t expect there to be tons of space. I think we counted about 5 stools in total last time we visited.

Barpa Bill’s is authentically Greek cuisine, but if you’re not the type who likes dipping their French fries in tzatziki sauce you can also try these other locations in the Bow Valley for some yummy burgers:

– La Belle Patate in Canmore (also famous for their amazing poutine)
– The Elk & Oarsmen (check out their $6 Steak Sandwich meals on Steak Tuesday!)
– Block: Kitchen & Bar for some interesting sandwich creations if burgers aren’t your thing
– Squish Sandwich Cellar (a hidden gem on Banff Ave if you prefer sandwiches – try the Reuben!)

The food in Banff is delicious, unique and a tad pricey but like we mentioned, Barpa Bill’s takes home the prize for best burger in town.
